Horsepower pricing — what a yard management app costs
Horsepower is free for yards with up to three horses, £9.99 a month for up to twenty, and £19.99 a month for unlimited yards and horses. Invited members are free on every plan, so you pay for the yard rather than for each person on it. A free trial of Pro starts automatically when you sign up, with no card up front.

| Plus | £2.99 / month or £29.99 / year | Personal add-on | GPS ride tracking, the media library, Horsepower AI and 200 AI photo reads a month (20 a month free without it). Family-shared — one payer covers everyone in the family group. | |
Prices in GBP including VAT where applicable. Billed through Stripe; card details never touch our servers. Cancel any time — it takes effect at the end of the period you've paid for, and your records stay readable afterwards.
What does horse and yard management software usually cost?
It varies more than you'd expect, and a good deal of the market doesn't publish a price at all — you book a demo to find out. For comparison, from the vendors' own public pages at the time of writing:
- Subscription, per yard or barn — the common shape. BarnOps starts at $79/month ($99 with billing included) and has no free tier.
- Buy it outright — Equine Genie is desktop software you own, $349 to $499 depending on edition, with remote data entry a separate $199. No monthly fee, but the yard lives on one computer.
- Priced by herd size and user seats — Paddock Pro sizes plans by how many horses (50 / 250 / unlimited) and how many logins you need.
- Pricing on request — BarnBeacon and several others offer a trial but publish no figures.
Two things are worth checking on any quote, because they're where the cost usually hides: whether everyone on the yard needs a paid seat, and whether your records stay readable if you stop paying. Horsepower charges per yard with members always free, and your history stays readable after a cancellation.
Is there a genuinely free option?
Yes — Horsepower's free tier is not a trial that expires. A yard with up to three horses can run on it indefinitely, with the records, calendar and galleries included. You only move to a paid plan when the yard outgrows it.
