Connect Horsepower to your AI assistant
Horsepower runs its own MCP server — the open Model Context Protocol standard for giving an AI assistant access to an app. Connect it and you can ask about your yard in plain language, without opening the app: what's on today, when the farrier's next due, whether the boosters are current. It comes with Horsepower Plus, and because it runs on your own AI subscription there is no usage limit from us. Plus also includes Horsepower AI — the same thing without the setup, as a chat inside the app that answers from your yard on our AI, with a monthly allowance.

The assistant answers from your live data, not a stale export — every question is a fresh read of the yard at that moment.
What it can do
Ten tools, seven of which only read. A connection is read-only by default; the three write tools do nothing at all unless you explicitly turn writing on.

What the AI can and can't see
Read-only unless you say otherwise. New connections can query but not change anything. Writing is a deliberate toggle in your profile, and you can turn it back off at any time.
Only your own access. The connection sees exactly what you see when you log in — your horses, your yards. It doesn't widen your permissions, and it can't reach another yard's records.
A separate credential. The AI gets its own MCP credential, never your password or your login session. Every connected assistant is listed in your profile with its own Disconnect button, so you can cut one off without touching the others.
Nothing is shared by default. Connecting your own assistant doesn't expose anything to anyone else on the yard, and doesn't send your data to Horsepower's own AI.
Setting it up
Everything you need is in the app under Profile → Connect to your AI: your server URL, your token, and a one-click prompt you can paste into an assistant.
Claude (claude.ai, desktop and mobile)
Horsepower supports the full OAuth connector flow, so there's no token to copy manually. In Claude, go to Settings → Connectors → Add custom connector, enter https://horsepower.page/api/mcp as the server URL, and approve the Horsepower consent screen that follows.
Claude Code
Add it from the terminal — Claude Code completes the same OAuth flow in your browser: claude mcp add --transport http horsepower https://horsepower.page/api/mcp
Any other MCP client
The endpoint is a standard MCP server over Streamable HTTP, so anything that speaks the protocol can connect. Point your client at https://horsepower.page/api/mcp and authenticate either through OAuth or with the token from Profile → Connect to your AI as a bearer token. We've tested Claude and Claude Code ourselves; other clients should work, but we'd rather say "should" than pretend we've verified every one.
Why we built it
A yard app is mostly a memory aid — what happened, what's due, who did it. That's exactly the shape of question people now ask an assistant instead of hunting through screens. Rather than bolting a chatbot onto the app and making you use ours, we made the yard readable by whichever assistant you already use. Common questions
What is MCP?
MCP (Model Context Protocol) is an open standard for connecting AI assistants to applications. An app runs an MCP server describing what it can do; any MCP-compatible assistant can connect to it and use those capabilities on your behalf. Horsepower runs one, so your assistant can read your yard.
Does connecting my AI cost extra?
It's part of Horsepower Plus (£2.99/month or £29.99/year), which also covers Horsepower AI in the app, photo and video storage, and GPS ride tracking. Connecting your own assistant has no usage limit from us because it runs on your AI subscription rather than ours — so you'll need one of those, whatever it costs you.
What's the difference between this and Horsepower AI?
Same data, same tools, different engine. Horsepower AI is a chat inside the app that runs on our AI — nothing to set up, but there's a monthly allowance because we're paying for it. Connecting your own assistant costs you nothing extra from us and has no limit, but you bring your own AI and spend a couple of minutes wiring it up. Plus includes both, so you can use whichever suits and switch whenever.
Can the AI change my records?
Only if you let it. Connections are read-only by default and can just answer questions. Turning writing on in your profile adds three tools — logging exercise, logging a weight, and creating a calendar event — and nothing else. There is no tool that can delete anything.
Is my yard's data sent to an AI company?
Only what you ask about, and only to the assistant you chose to connect. Horsepower doesn't send your records anywhere on its own, and connecting your assistant doesn't give us or anyone else on your yard new access.
How do I disconnect it?
Go to Profile → Connect to your AI. Assistants connected through the approval screen are listed there with a Disconnect button each, and lose access the moment you press it. If you connected something by pasting the token instead, cycle the token — that one action cuts off anything still holding the old value. Nothing else about your account is affected either way.
